DELYTH MORGAN praised the display of her team-mates as Wrexham lost out for only the second time this season in the Adran Premier League.

Hosts Swansea City recovered from an interval deficit to record a 2-1 triumph in the big top-three encounter.

It was a terrific occasion, with almost 4,000 fans turning out for the match, which was played at the Swansea.com Stadium.

Reds’ goalkeeper Morgan told the club’s YouTube channel: “I know for a fact that we put our heart and soul into it, that we worked so hard and we were just unlucky not to get something out of the game.”

Steve Dale’s side reached half-time holding the advantage.

It was Swansea who had much of the early pressure, but they were stunned in the 13th minute.

Amber Lightfoot pounced on a poor touch from Jess Williams in the home box and when her shot was parried, Carra Jones was in the right place to tuck away the rebound.

Swansea drew themselves level nine minutes into the second half thanks to Ellie Lake’s effort from distance, while Katy Hosford (pictured below) grabbed the winner for the hosts, who moved level on points with the second-placed Reds in the standings.

Morgan, who made a number of key saves over the course of the 90 minutes, added: “It’s a fantastic stadium, fantastic pitch and we’re honoured that Swansea wanted to play us as their first game back in the stadium this season and I think the fact they wanted to play us just shows how well we did the first game of the season against them and how well we’ve done this season.

“I think they knew they were going to be up for a tough game today.

“They had to bring their A game to beat us.”

This was only Wrexham’s second defeat since gaining promotion to the top flight and they’re looking good bets to still be in the top-four come the mid-season split.

“We knew coming into the league it was going to be a tough task,” added Morgan.

“I think we’ve been better than anyone thought we would (be).”

Adran Premier leaders Cardiff City maintained their unbeaten run with a 3-0 win over Cardiff Met, while Aberystwyth triumphed 2-0 at Barry.

Connah's Quay Nomads have returned to the top of the Adran North standings.

Llandudno had taken over with a midweek win over Y Felinheli, but Jordan Parry's Nomads are back in pole position courtesy of a 5-2 win over NFA.

Sophie Hodson bagged a hat-trick for Nomads, with Alisha Wright and Melanie Barlow netting the others.

Airbus lost out 3-1 at Rhyl 1879 in the other match to go ahead.

In the North Wales League's Betty Pickering Cup, Bellevue were beaten 13-0 at Denbigh, while Kinmel Bay and Caernarfon drew 1-1.
