MATT REID is looking forward to another season with North Wales Crusaders.

Reid had hinted that 2023 would be his final season, but he has since had a change of heart.

The 31-year-old centre first signed for Cru in 2013 and then went on to have spells at Coventry and Oldham.

Since rejoining Crusaders in 2019, he has made 59 appearances and scored 23 tries, with 11 of them coming last season.

Reid told the club’s website: “I’m really pleased to be staying at the club next season.

“The plan was to stop playing at the end of last season.

“However, I managed to find my enjoyment in playing again after a frustrating time with niggling injuries.

“There’s such a good atmosphere around the club and after going so close last season, the opportunity to go one better really excites me.

“To continue to play in front of our fans is always a reason to want to stay on as their unwavering support makes such a difference to us as players.”

Cru player-coach Carl Forster added: “It’s brilliant to keep Reidy on board with us.

“He’s a quality player and it showed at the back end of the season when he was consistently fit that we are a better team with him in it. He knows the club very well now and that’s real important for us as a group moving forward.”
