THE first round draw could have been kinder but Wrexham will relish the challenge when they face Mansfield Town at Field Mill tomorrow.
Phil Parkinson’s men are unbeaten in eight games in all competitions and that includes a hard-fought goalless draw in Nottinghamshire when the teams met in League Two at the start of October.
The Stags are enjoying a brilliant season but so are Wrexham who will be brimming with confidence after winning 2-0 at arch rivals Notts County last weekend to remain in the top-three.
A second successive promotion remains the priority but a cup run didn’t hamper the Reds last season when they reached the fourth round of the competition, springing a huge shock against Championship outfit Coventry City, and were relentless in the race for the National League title.
Wrexham will have to overcome Mansfield if they want to go on another cup adventure and although it promises to be a tricky test, it’s one that the Reds can pass on recent form.
