SIX was the key number as Deeside Dragons continued their good run of form.

It's now back-to-back triumphs for the Dragons courtesy of their 6-0 success at home to Sheffield Scimitars and this triumph takes the Deeside side up to sixth in the NIHL Division One North (Moralee) standings.

Dragons came skating out of the blocks and they were 3-0 ahead at the end of the first quarter.

Ross Kennedy, who bagged a goal in the recent 4-1 triumph over Solihull Barons, opened the scoring and this was soon followed by an effort from Alex Parry.

It was Kennedy at the double as the Dragons continued to have the better of things.

There was no way back for Scimitars when Brodie Jesson extended his side's advantage and a second goal from Parry made it a comfortable 5-0 advantage to the Dragons at the end of the second quarter.

One further goal would go in Deeside's favour in the concluding quarter and it was slotted home by Jared Dickinson to complete a fine evening's work.

Deeside Dragons' MVP was two-goal Alex Parry.

"It really was a good result for us," said assistant head coach Matt Compton.

"Even though we won 6-0, our goalie Matt Croyne's been fantastic as well."

Croyne gave up his role in the closing stages to Jace Gledhill, who also did well as the Dragons made sure of their first shutout of the season.

Compton stressed how vital it was that players have a squad mentality, rather than an individual one.

"It's so important when you put a team together, you have got to make sure you have got the right people," he added.

"We have got some players that have been together a long, long time and the new players have settled in well."

Things have certainly picked up over recent weeks for the Dragons, who endured a tough opening couple of weekends to their campaign.

Back-to-back triumphs have certainly put to bed memories of that four-game losing sequence to kick things off.

"It was a tough start to the season," admitted Compton.

"We would have liked to and could have got something from the first four games in the season.

"We were short of players and we're still missing two long-term injuries."

Apart from that, Compton said the Dragons were "not far off a full squad".

"We're trying to get in the habit of winning games," he added.
