IT’S no surprise that an awesome foursome from the North Wales Crusaders have made it into a select XIII.
Crusaders’ heroes form almost a third of the line-up in Rugby League World’s League 1 team of the month for September. During an epic month, Carl Forster’s Cru won a trio of matches on the road to reach the grand final of the play-offs, where they eventually lost out to Doncaster.
Forster, a key figure on and off the pitch, is one of those selected, as is Cole Oakley, who grabbed a decisive late try when Crusaders triumphed 25-18 at League 1 runners-up Hunslet.
This came after brilliant earlier triumphs at Workington Town and Oldham, who had finished the season in higher positions than the sixth-placed North Wales outfit.
Skipper Callum Hazzard and Matt Reid were the other two players included in the side.
The Super League play-offs continue this weekend with two heavyweight clashes. It’s a repeat of 2021 grand final tonight as defending champions St Helens go to Catalans Dragons. League Leaders Shield winners Wigan host Hull KR tomorrow.
