THE LDV Vans Trophy triumph 18 years ago gave supporters something to celebrate when times were tough for Wrexham Football Club.
Back in the competition now known as the EFL Trophy after clinching promotion last season, Wrexham’s opening group game is against Newcastle United under 21s at The STóK Cae Ras tonight and Phil Parkinson will make changes after seeing the Reds beat Tranmere Rovers 1-0 in Saturday’s derby to extend the unbeaten League Two record to five games.
Momentum is huge in football and whoever he selects, Parkinson will want another win ahead of two successive home games in the league against Doncaster and Grimsby when Wrexham will aim to continue climbing the table.
OUR PREDICTIONS:
WREXHAM 3 NEWCASTLE UNITED U21S 2 NICK HARRISON
WREXHAM 2 NEWCASTLE UNITED U21S 1 RICHARD WILLIAMS
WREXHAM 2 NEWCASTLE UNITED U21S 0 SHAUN DAVIES
SCORES SO FAR.....SHAUN DAVIES 6; NICK HARRISON 5; RICHARD WILLIAMS 3
