THE return of summer weather heralded a number of tight Division Two contests.

Carmel & District held their nerve to record an eight-run success in their home meeting with Llanrwst.

Ryan Roberts’ knock of 50 was crucial as Carmel’s 40 overs yielded 127 for nine, while Llanrwst’s response was halted on 119. There were two wickets apiece for Abdus Samad, Amer Jamil, Ben Sim and Ranjith Appuhamy.

Continuing the close theme was Hawarden Park Seconds’ 17-run success at home to Gresford Seconds, whose innings reached 99 all out (Gez Jones 27, Nicholas Woods 4-14).

This was in reply to Park’s earlier 116 for nine (Tom Wilson 43, Sam Burke 4-16).

There was a further low-scoring encounter as Bersham got the better of Mochdre Seconds by four wickets.

Buckley Seconds found themselves on the wrong end of a hefty 149-run outcome during their trip to St Asaph Seconds, who amassed a near run-a-ball 239 for six (David Lloyd 119, Abbey Mayers 3-39). Buckley were dismissed for 90.

Pontblyddyn Seconds lost out by 92 runs at Bangor Seconds, who set 188 for three (Chris Barry 105no, Ethan Roberts 3-31).

Champions Brymbo Seconds maintained their unbeaten run this season with a 91-run success at Mold Seconds.

Connah’s Quay Seconds maintained their aims of a top-three finish via a thrilling eight-run Division Three success at Denbigh Seconds.

Chris Boden’s lower order effort of 49 boosted Quay’s tally to 140. Jake Jones snaffled three wickets for Denbigh, whose reply finished up short on 132 (Jack Griffiths 3-13, Boden 3-21).

Corwen’s title hopes were dealt a blow in a 46-run reverse at Conwy Seconds.

Conwy posted 123 but second-placed Corwen could only muster 77.

Bethesda Seconds defeated Gwynedd rivals Caernarfon by 51 runs while Halkyn Seconds’ successful Division Four campaign continued with a comfortable 107-run victory over Ruthin Seconds.

Already assured of promotion, Halkyn posted 149 for seven (Duane Williams 42). Gareth Thomas, Sam Hamilton and Anthony Green all picked up two wickets when Ruthin were dismissed for 42.

There was a two-wicket triumph for Carmel Seconds to celebrate at Abergele Seconds.

Eoin Johnson (4-4) and Dafydd Timothy (3-11) played their part when Abergele were all out for 77 and Carmel crept to a winning 79 for eight.

Marchwiel and Wrexham Seconds were bowled out for 44 prior to Llanrwst Seconds’ 48 for two.

Brymbo Thirds continued their push towards the Sunday East Division title with an eight-wicket victory over Corwen.

Jack Andrew’s 4-11 helped dismiss Corwen for 99 and Thomas Hankins’ unbeaten 51 led Brymbo home.

Northop Thirds won by four wickets ay Hawarden Park Fourths and Northop Hall Fourths beat Connah’s Quay Thirds by five wickets.
