WREXHAM haven’t won away this season but they couldn't pick a better place than Prenton Park to do it.
The Reds and Rovers rivalry over the years has been intense and there will be a cracking atmosphere for tomorrow’s high noon showdown in Tranmere.
When Rovers were on the rise in the 1980s with ex-Reds striker Jim Steel leading the line, Wrexham were slip-sliding down the leagues.
Johnny King got a real-Steel when he paid a club record £50,000 for Big Jim.
And when Wrexham - they weren’t bank-rolled by Hollywood owners in those days - couldn’t afford the £10,000 asking fee for Hereford playmaker Jimmy Harvey, the wily old King nipped.
Rovers rise continued with Wrexham en route to rock-bottom 92nd place in the Football League.
Both clubs have had non-league stays since with Wrexham’s a bit longer than Rovers’ was. But surely it’s time the Reds reversed the fortunes and a win tomorrow will continue their rise up the league.
OUR PREDICTIONS:
TRANMERE ROVERS 1 WREXHAM 2 NICK HARRISON
TRANMERE ROVERS 1 WREXHAM 2 RICHARD WILLIAMS
TRANMERE ROVERS 1 WREXHAM 2 SHAUN DAVIES
