WREXHAM futsal players have shown they're some of the best in Wales.

A number of FC United of Wrexham Futsal Club teams enjoyed success in the National Futsal Alliance Cymru Cup.

FC United won in the U8s, U9s, U10s, U12s and women's competitions in the tournament that was staged at Glyndwr University sports hall.

The event, skilfully organised by Londoner Robert Brassett, witnessed an astounding turnout of 34 teams from across Wales.

Over the span of two action-packed days, 51 games were played, with 269 goals scored and 432 players displaying their talent.

Brassett expressed his delight at the overwhelming success of the competition.

He extended his gratitude to Dave Fawkes, of the North East Wales Football Association (NEWFA) and all the participating clubs for their invaluable support in bringing top-tier futsal competitions to the region and Wales.

The event featured three fully qualified referees to ensure the highest standard of play.

Six different clubs were crowned Welsh champions and each winner will proudly represent their country in a future home nations tournament in the upcoming season.

Andrew Ruscoe, chairman of FC United of Wrexham, hailed the weekend as a momentous occasion for the club and Welsh futsal as a whole.

He was thrilled with the overwhelming participation in the event, which he attributed to the dedication of Robert Brassett and the support of the local regional FA, NEWFA, and Dave Fawkes.

Reflecting on FC United's journey, Ruscoe praised the club's incredible transformation in recent years. He was deeply moved to witness his club emerge as national champions in multiple age groups, showcasing the growing popularity of futsal in Wales.

Wrexham Futsal won the U8s' 3v3 event, with Rakers FC victorious at U11 level.

U13s' champions were Avro, with Chirk Youth the U14s' winners and Luso Cymru took the men's title.
