GWERSYLLT PARK have a derby date at home to Llay Welfare as their promotion push towards the Premier Division gathers pace.

Gwersyllt have somehow managed to dodge the downpours that have wiped out most matches in July to move 20 points clear at the top of Division One.

Captain Iroshan De Silva, who is now past the 600 runs mark for the season, described last week’s win at Connah’s Quay as a ‘a great one’.

“It was a team effort,” said. “Alfie Lythgoe batted well and all the bowlers got wickets at vital times.

“We’ve got eight games to go and we want to continue the form we are showing.”

Llay head just down the road to Bradley buoyed by a brilliant 54-run home win against third-placed Conwy last week.
