NORTH WALES’ top cricketers will be heading due north early next week - and they will be spear-headed by two Wales National County players.

St Asaph’s Will Ryan and Denbigh all-rounder Harrison Jones (pictured above) are the Wales National County North skipper and vice-captain for a two-day visit to Northumberland.

A 50-over match with Northumberland Development is scheduled for Monday, July 31, with T20 contests then taking place on August 1.

Ryan and Jones both impressed as Wales National County claimed a draw in their recent three-day contest at Wiltshire.

Knocks of 38 and 42 were supplied by Ryan in the middle order, while Jones picked up 2-49 in Wiltshire’s first innings.

Brymbo youngster Will Norman is a member of the 12-strong North Wales squad heading to Jesmond Cricket Club next week and he is joined by exciting prospect Archie Sussex, of Denbigh.

St Asaph’s Matt Ryan and Nathaniel Scott, Joe Howells (Carmarthen Wanderers), Owen Reilly (Bangor), Owen Davies (Mochdre), Jack Parry (Colwyn Bay), Matt Jones (Menai Bridge) and Jack Rimmington (Llandudno) complete the squad.

Wales face Warwickshire at Caldicot on Sunday as the minor counties take on the County Championship brigade in 20 50-over games.

Cheshire will go up against the mighty Yorkshire at Nantwich’s Whitehouse Lane ground.

Chester duo Jack Williams and Alex Money are in the Cheshire team as is Colwyn Bay’s former Neston wicket-keeper Will Evans.

Lancashire will travel to Sedbergh to face Cumbria.
