THE cream of North Wales cricketers will get the chance to show off their talents this weekend.

Wales National County (North) under 19s are back in action this Sunday when they take on their counterparts from Shropshire.

Bangor Cricket Club will play host to the encounter, with the North Wales team being captained by Brymbo’s Will Norman.

His clubmate Jack Williams is also included in the 12-strong squad, while there is a strong contingent of North Wales League Division One players.

Promotion-chasing Gwersyllt Park supply two players, in the shape of Ralfie Challinor and Cai Pearson, while other figures included are Connah’s Quay’s Mali Auty and Buckley’s Oliver Fellows.

Northop’s Charlie Collins is also included, as are Menai Bridge trio Iwan Moore, Logan Morgan and Matt Jones.

The squad is completed by Llandudno’s Elliott Hughes and Llandysul Cricket Club’s Titus Mathew.

Division One’s leading duo can both look forward to home comforts tomorrow.

Northop seconds are the new front-runners in the division and they will be aiming to retain their lofty position as they take on Menai Bridge seconds.

Second-placed Gwersyllt Park have demonstrated they can hold their nerve in a tight finish and they will target victory at home to Bethesda.

Last time out, Park claimed a thrilling one-run success at title rivals Conwy.

A post on the club’s Twitter account said: “Well well! Amazing game with @ClwbConwy.

“Played in great spirit, managed to sneak a win off the last ball, all the boys staying over on a night out, what a place to have a celebratory drink.”

Conwy are now 11 points off the pace and next up they travel to Marchwiel and Wrexham, who sit at the foot of the table.

Just above them are Llay, who are looking forward to a home meeting with Abergele, while Buckley make the trip to Hawarden Park.

Connah’s Quay entertain Dolgellau in the remaining match.

A 10th triumph of the summer will be Division Two leaders Brymbo seconds’ aim as they go to second-placed Llanrwst tomorrow.
