MOMENTUM is huge in football and Ryan Barnett feels Wrexham will be brimming with confidence when they return to the Football League following a record-breaking campaign.

Phil Parkinson's men secured the National League title with a best-ever 111 points haul and will play their trade in League Two for the first time since 2008 when the new season kicks off on Saturday August 5.

Beaten just three times in 46 outings, Wrexham were pushed all the way by Notts County but secured automatic promotion with an incredible 34 wins.

Wrexham are being backed to continue rising through the divisions under Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney and wing-back Barnett, who joined the Reds from Solihull Moors in March, is looking to continue the success story.

"I think the target next season has to be promotion again, and hopefully win the league," said Barnett.

"We have got a good squad here and I am sure the manager will add to that.

"We have got a great basis to go again next season.

"We have got the confidence and will have the momentum going into next year so I think we will be alright."
