PHIL PARKINSON says there is "no real rush" to add to his squad and he will only bring in players "of real quality" that will improve Wrexham following a record-breaking campaign.

The Reds won automatic promotion following a thrilling National League title-race with Notts County and returned to the Football League for the first time since 2008.

Bookmakers are backing Wrexham to continue rising through the divisions under Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney with Parkinson's men 7/2 to win the League Two title in 2023-24, and the Reds are as short as evens to secure back-to-back promotions.

Although 11 players have been released, including Reece Hall-Johnson, Harry Lennon and Jake Hyde, Parkinson has a squad full of quality and insists there will not be an influx of new signings.

"I have said since the day I came in that we want to sign players who are ready to grow with the club," said Parkinson, who was named National League manager of the season.

"That is what we have tried to do and now we have put a squad in place which has got us promoted, it doesn't need major surgery to push on again.

"I feel we have got a lot of players who will be ready for next season which is good from our point of view.

"We wanted to deal with all the players out of contract and announce the retained list this week.

"Now it is a case of if we bring players in, they have got to be ones of real quality that we feel can improve us.

"Of course that process is on-going but with the squad we have got in place at the moment, there is no real rush over that.

"As ever, we have just got to make sure that we make good decisions which can benefit us going into next season."
