THERE was no final-day tension as Wrexham were able to say goodbye to the National League without worrying about the result against Torquay United at Plainmoor.

Phil Parkinson's men had already clinched automatic promotion and return to the Football League following a 15-year absence after beating Boreham Wood 3-1 the previous weekend.

The outcome of the last match of the non-league era didn't matter but Wrexham were able to add to their incredible points tally by securing a 1-1 draw which relegated the Gulls to National League South.

Supporters counted down the clock in injury time and "no more minutes in the National League" rang out in the away end when the final whistle blew.

Wrexham missed chances in the first half, with top scorer Paul Mullin seeing his early penalty saved, and although Torquay went ahead at the start of the second half, Elliot Lee scored the equaliser 10 minutes from time.

Here's how the players rated:

BEN FOSTER: The saves he had to make were comfortable but was beaten once when Torquay took the lead. 6

RYAN BARNETT: A huge threat down the right once again, going close to scoring as well as setting up team-mates. 7

EOGHAN O’CONNELL: Almost scored in the first half and Wrexham largely coped well with the Gulls. 6

BEN TOZER: Torquay needed a win but the defence was solid. 6

TOM O’CONNOR: Distribution first half in particular was superb and did his job in defence. 6

JACOB MENDY: Always willing to support attacks. 6

JAMES JONES: The Reds could have won the game in the first half as a few chances went begging. 6

ANDY CANNON: Wrexham played some good football in the opening half-an-hour. 6

ELLIOT LEE: Another busy performance by the playmaker and he was rewarded with his 15th goal of the season. 7

PAUL MULLIN: A rare penalty miss and goalkeeper Mark Halstead made another superb save to deny the Reds' leading scorer. 6

SAM DALBY: Held the ball up well in attack. 6
