ELLIOT LEE described it as an "amazing feeling" after helping Wrexham clinch automatic promotion and return to the Football League following a 15-year absence.

Saturday's 3-1 win against Boreham Wood at a packed-out Racecourse secured the National League title with one game to go.

Phil Parkinson's side have been pushed all the way by Notts County following a remarkable season which has seen both teams register a century of points, with the Reds breaking numerous records.

Lee, who started his career at West Ham United and had spells at the likes of Luton, Oxford and Charlton before joining the Reds last summer, was elated to finish the job off.

"It's been a tough season and all due respect to Notts County, they are an incredible team and they pushed us all the way," said the playmaker.

"To have the season we've had breaking records along the way, it's a special group and a special club.

"I am just delighted, it is an incredible feeling.

"Full credit to the lads and staff, the gaffer and Steve Parkin are just incredible.

"They have kept us on our feet all season, never get too high and never get too low.

"It is just an amazing feeling."

Wrexham got off to the worst possible start when Boreham Wood took the lead after just 45 seconds.

Lee quickly equalised and top scorer Paul Mullin netted with two superb finishes in the second half to take his tally for the season to 47 goals and secure a memorable victory.

On going behind so early, Lee added: "It wouldn't be Wrexham I don't think, we had to make a show out of it!

"The lads weren't happy with the start, it wasn't the best, but we always know we are going to score here.

"We are a real force, especially attacking our fans, and second half we just knew we had to be patient.

"We had to grind them down and that's what we did."

Andy Cannon picked up a National League title winner's medal for a second year in a row, 12 months after helping Stockport County pip Wrexham to top spot during a loan spell from Hull City.

The midfielder, brought in from the Tigers in December, hopes Wrexham are joined in League Two by Notts County.

"Getting 110 points on the board isn't easy, it is not easy to win games of football, but we been relentless this season and it is fully deserved," said Cannon.

"I hope Notts County go up as well because they are the second best team in the league."
