PHIL PARKINSON praised his players for taking care of their business against Yeovil Town to ensure Wrexham would have a crack at winning the National League title this weekend.

Saturday's goalless draw at Barnet left the Reds needing six points from their final three matches to clinch automatic promotion.

Wrexham could guarantee top spot by winning both games at The Racecourse this week, with Tuesday's clash against lowly Yeovil followed by the meeting with Boreham Wood on Saturday.

Parkinson was fully focussed on Yeovil and his players delivered the goods, turning on the style in the second half to win 3-0 following a goalless opening period, and the Reds will secure a return to the Football League following a 15-year absence by beating the Wood.

There is still work to be done - Wrexham head to Torquay on the final day of the season - but Parkinson applauded his side for making the most of the opportunity against the Glovers who were relegated following the defeat.

"I said to the lads on Monday that I could detect people outside of the club were almost looking ahead to Saturday," said Parkinson.

"We had to make sure our focus was purely on Yeovil.

"Tuesday was about setting ourselves up for the game at the weekend and we have done that, the professionalism was outstanding from the lads.

"Part one is done of the week.

"We know what we have got to do; we are four points clear with two games to go.

"We have just got to concentrate on how we need to play against Boreham Wood.

"Hopefully we can set a game-plan up and the lads can implement it as well as they did against Yeovil."

Victory maintained the unbeaten home record with Wrexham picking up 21 wins and a solitary draw against Woking from 22 league outings.

Saturday's showdown with Boreham Wood can't come quick enough as far as Parkinson is concerned.

"The lads have relished playing here at The Racecourse, it was another cracking atmosphere under the lights," added the Reds' boss.

"I can't wait for the weekend, I am really looking forward to it.

"It is almost like the days in between the games, you want them to go quick!"
