PHIL PARKINSON knows Paul Mullin won’t be content with his current goal tally after reaching another milestone in a Wrexham shirt.

Mullin has been a revelation since he arrived at The Racecourse in the summer of 2021 from Cambridge United where he won the League Two golden boot after scoring 32 goals to help the U’s clinch promotion.

The 28-year-old picked up where he left off in his first campaign for the Reds, finishing leading scorer with 32 goals to scoop the Player of the Season award as well as the National League’s golden boot and Player of the Season gong.

There has been no let-up this season from Mullin who bagged a quickfire brace in Saturday's 2-1 win at Bromley to take his tally for the season to 40 goals.

It is a total that Mullin can be happy with but Parkinson says his frontman will be hungry for more goals during the title challenge with Wrexham back in action at home to York City on Saturday.

“Paul was a statement signing if you go back to a couple of summers ago,” said the Reds’ boss.

“Like all good players, we had to work hard to get that deal over the line.

“Paul’s proved a good signing for us but the great thing is he is not content with 40 goals. He wants to push on.

“You are always going to get accolades when you reach a milestone like 40 goals but he is not jumping up and down about it.

“He is concentrating on the week’s training and going into the York game.”

Mullin was taken off with six minutes to go at Hayes Lane and Parkinson revealed the striker has had a knee problem which needs “rectifying in the summer”.

However, the Reds boss is set to be able to call on the prolific hitman when Wrexham, three points ahead of Notts County with a game un hand, continue the automatic promotion push against York.

“Paul’s had a slight problem with his knee and he just jarred it on the astroturf a bit,” added Parkinson.

“It was good to get him off before the end but he has trained so far this week so he is fine.”
