PHIL PARKINSON believes Wrexham are showing they can handle the pressure that comes with a promotion challenge.

The Reds faced Dagenham and Redbridge at York Road on Tuesday night in their game in hand on title rivals Notts County.

Knowing they could put more distance between themselves and the Magpies, Wrexham didn't disappoint as a 4-0 win opened up a four point lead over County.

Both teams have 10 matches remaining and while there is still a long way to go in the race for automatic promotion, Parkinson was delighted his side stepped up to the plate and made the most of the opportunity in front of them against the Daggers.

"I thought we looked like a team who were in control and we knew how we needed to go about our business," said the Reds' boss.

"We put into practice what we spoke about leading into the game.

"It is alright doing the talk in the meetings and the training pitch, you have got to do it when it really matters.

"Every game has got a bit of added pressure as the season draws to a close but we showed we can cope with that.

"There were some good, quality footballing performances."

Wrexham conceded a late equaliser and had to settle for a 2-2 draw at Maidenhead United on Saturday but the Reds responded by producing a brilliant away performance at Dagenham.

Parkinson was delighted with the reaction to the weekend stalemate with the victory in east London increasing the lead on County.

"We are very pleased with our position," he added.

"It can always be better but everyone else can say that as well.

"Football is about not feeling sorry for yourself when you get a little bump in the road and responding as the staff and players have done."
