PHIL PARKINSON held his hands up and admits his side just weren't good enough against Woking as Wrexham dropped points at The Racecourse for the first time this season.

Wrexham won their opening 13 National League home games but the 100 per cent record came to an end as the Cards secured a 2-2 draw.

Woking took an early lead and although Wrexham struggled to get going, Anthony Forde's superb free-kick made it 1-1 at the break.

Paul Mullin put the Reds 2-1 up in the second half, putting away a penalty for his 31st goal of the campaign, but the visitors converted a spot-kick of their own and the second versus third encounter ended all-square.

Parkinson conceded there was a lack of quality from his side when in possession.

"We are disappointed with the way we played," said Parkinson.

"Woking are a strong team, they are physical and they were tough to play against; they make it difficult for you and it became a battle but we didn't play as well as we can in terms of on the ball.

"We were too hurried, we didn't work hard enough to make angles to pass it and it became a scrappy kind of game which Woking are very good at, and they got a point.

"It is no lack of effort from the boys at all but we know we can do better as a team."

Three of the four goals came from set-pieces but neither side created many chances from open play in front of another 10,000-plus crowd at The Racecourse.

"There was very little goalmouth action," said Parkinson.

"We got ourselves into the lead and their penalty looks a very soft one but the referee has give it.

"We never really got any patterns of play going where we imposed our shape onto theirs enough and it became a little bit too easy for them."

Forde provided the real moment of quality, finding the top corner of the net with his free-kick from just outside the area.

Parkinson was delighted Forde was able to show what he can do from a set-piece in the absence of injured duo Jordan Davies and Tom O'Connor.

"It was a great free-kick from Fordey and I am pleased for him," said the Reds' boss.

"He has been down the pecking order in who takes those free-kicks; Jordan earlier in the season and Tom has been outstanding.

"Fordey stuck it in the top corner and it gave us a great lift going into half-time but we never really got to grips with the way they played."

Second placed Wrexham are now five points behind Notts County who came from behind to beat fourth placed Barnet 4-1, although the Reds have two games in hand.

Parkinson is looking for a response against Aldershot Town at The Recreation Ground on Saturday.

"We have got to dust ourselves down, we have been on an amazing run at home and we are still on a good run," added Parkinson.

"It is always difficult when you drop points but we looked unbalanced and we have got to look at that and make sure that on Saturday we are better."
