PHIL PARKINSON will ring the changes against Altrincham tonight and is set to name a completely different team.

The FA Trophy is low down on the list of priorities and Parkinson switched things around when Wrexham beat Scunthorpe United 3-1 in their opening game of the competition on December 21.

Wrexham continued the National League title challenge with a 2-1 win against Bromley on Tuesday to extend the unbeaten run to 19 matches and the Reds’ boss hinted that he will select a different side for the fourth round tie at Altrincham, giving players who need game-time a much needed run-out.

“We will make 11 changes for the game,” said the Reds boss, who will be up against his namesake, Phil Parkinson in the Moss Lane dug-out.

“We made a lot of changes for the home game against Scunthorpe and I just think it is a great opportunity for players to get some minutes and some game-time.

“It will be a completely different team to what I played against Bromley. We will pick the team we feel is right for this game.”

Defenders Reece Hall-Johnson (pictured above) and Max Cleworth, who started Saturday’s 4-3 victory at Coventry City in the FA Cup third round but didn’t play against Bromley, will get the nod.

“We have got a lot of games coming up and as much as we don’t want to risk key players in this game, it is a chance for players to get some game-time,” said Parkinson.

“Reece played so well at Coventry but another game will do him the world of good.

“Max was outstanding at Coventry, he needs another game.

“We will just utilise it to get all the squad right on the money as we go into a busy period coming up.”

Recent signing Andy Cannon, who joined from Hull City last month, has not featured since he started the third round win against Scunthorpe.

That was Cannon’s first game since the end of August and Parkinson has been managing the midfielder.

“Andy has been on a separate schedule to the other lads,” added the Reds’ boss.

“He had 60 minutes against Scunthorpe and it’s been a mini pre-season for him.

“I am looking forward to Andy getting more minutes against Altrincham.”
