PHIL PARKINSON was delighted Wrexham were able to back-up their Boxing Day win with another victory over Solihull Moors.

The Reds triumphed 2-1 at Damson Park yesterday, seven days after thrashing Moors 5-0 at home to complete the double over Neal Ardley's side.

Jordan Tunnicliffe gave the visitors an 11th minute lead and although Solihull enjoyed a good spell, Wrexham were on top after the break and Tom O'Connor scored a crucial second goal with a superb free-kick.

Moors reduced the deficit in added time but Wrexham weren't going to be denied success which keeps the Reds second in the National League, two points behind Notts County with a game in hand.

"To follow up the 5-0 win was a great effort from the lads," said Parkinson.

"It was never going to be straight forward, everybody coming to the game knew there was going to be some sort of response from Solihull.

"They started brightly then we got a hold of the game; we had a really good spell and got the goal.

"After the goal, I just felt we lost our way a little bit.

"We had a lot of set-plays to defend and we had to put our bodies on the line at times to earn the victory.

"We got the second goal, an outstanding goal from Tom, and there-on in you felt we would go on and get another one because we were right on top of them.

"Conceding in the last minutes always adds a slight bit of tension but there was never going to be enough time for them to get back in it."
