PHIL PARKINSON was relieved to see three players escape a booking in their Boxing Day victory and avoid a suspension.

Captain Luke Young, striker Ollie Palmer and midfielder James Jones went into the game against Solihull Moors walking a disciplinary tightrope with four yellow cards to their name, one booking away from an automatic one-match ban.

Wrexham thrashed Moors 5-0 to remain second in the National League at the halfway mark in the season and although delighted to register another win in the quest for automatic promotion, Parkinson was delighted that the Reds' trio weren't shown a card.

Young, Palmer and Jones now have a bit of leeway, with suspensions kicking in when players receive 10 yellow cards.

"The big thing about this game was we had three players on four bookings - Ollie, James and Luke - and they have all got to that mark where it now goes to 10 bookings before you get suspended," said Parkinson.

"Ollie has been on that four booking mark for a long time but he has done brilliant to not get that extra booking and that is really important.

"Discipline and not getting players suspended is absolutely key."

The title challenge is the priority but Wrexham are also still in both the FA Cup and FA Trophy competitions.

Three home league fixtures have been rearranged early in the new year but Parkinson feels he has a big enough squad to handle a busy schedule.

"We have got a decent squad to cope with that," said the Reds' boss.

"Players like to play games; training is great but the buzz of match day is special.

"We have had a couple of home games called off and we have got them in which we hopefully have done so I am not concerned.

"I think we are ready for it.

"We had a very tough run around the October period and we came through that really well, and I am confident we will do the same again."
