PHIL PARKINSON is ready to make his move when the January transfer window opens.

Wrexham go into Saturday’s game against York City at The LNER Community Stadium sitting top of the National League after taking 46 points from the opening 20 games.

The Reds are one point ahead of Notts County but Parkinson is not resting on his laurels and is looking to strengthen his squad to maintain the promotion challenge in the second half of the season.

Midfielder Jordan Davies has been ruled out for three months after sustaining medial ligament damage in the 4-1 FA Cup second round win against Farnborough last weekend but even before losing the 24-year-old, Parkinson began exploring the possibility of bringing in reinforcements in the new year.

“Before Jordan got injured we were looking at one or two players,” said Parkinson.

“I have had a good chat with Shaun Harvey about what I thought and we are quite clear in what we would like to do.

“Football clubs don’t wait for January, it has started already and if there is someone we feel that can enhance what we have got then we will try and bring them in.”

Parkinson completed three new signings during the 2022 winter transfer window.

Ollie Palmer (pictured above) was brought in from AFC Wimbledon for a club record £300,000 transfer fee and the striker, who has been a huge hit, was joined at The Racecourse by wing-back Callum McFadzean and midfielder Tom O’Connor.

Wrexham took the title race down to the final game before finishing runners-up to Stockport County and Parkinson will make sure the squad is strong enough to once again be in the hunt for automatic promotion.

"The squad is in a better place now than it was leading into last January," added the Reds' boss.

"We will look carefully and make sure that we have got all bases covered."
