PHIL PARKINSON admits facing Oldham is one of the games he was most looking forward to.

Wrexham take on a Latics side who were relegated from the Football League last season and have struggled to adapt to life in the fifth tier, with David Unsworth replacing John Sheridan as manager earlier this month.

The trip to Boundary Park is one of the shortest away trips of the season for Wrexham who will be backed by a healthy away following, with Parkinson aiming to build on last Saturday's brilliant 6-0 thrashing of Torquay which extended the unbeaten run to seven games and keeps the Reds second in the National League.

"It was a good day's work for us," said Parkinson. "There was some real quality in our attacking play so obviously very pleased with that.

"But it is now focussing everybody on how they need to perform at Oldham.

"We go into it in a confident frame of mind but we have got to be ready to go there and perform as close to our best as we possibly can.

"Be ready to keep building on what we have done in the first 10 games."

Parkinson is relishing the clash against Oldham, who were once a Premier League club, adding: "Oldham's been in a bit of turmoil over the last few years and now they have got new, local-based owners so there seems to be more positivity around the club.

"Their intention at the start of the season was to be right at the very top of the league because they will be classed as one of the biggest clubs in this league.

"I can't wait for the game. We have got a big away following, it will be a good atmosphere and we are really looking forward to it.

"I think this is one of the fixtures we looked at when the fixtures came out because there are not many local-ish, northern based games."
