PHIL PARKINSON expects Wrexham to be back in action at home to Dagenham and Redbridge tomorrow evening.

The National League cancelled all fixtures on Saturday - including Wrexham’s clash against Maidenhead United at The Racecourse - following the death of HM Queen Elizabeth II.

Matches are scheduled to resume today and while Parkinson understands the decision to call-off games at the weekend as a mark of respect, the Reds' boss immediately turned his attention to planning for the visit of the Daggers when second placed Wrexham will target a fifth successive win.

"I understand the decision," said Parkinson

"It gives everyone in sport the chance to reflect, and ready to work next week.

"We were looking forward to the game and we had a decent week preparing for it.

"But it is the sane for everybody and we pay our respects.

"The focus now turns to the game on Tuesday night. We are preparing and expecting to play."

The announcement that all weekend matches were being called off came on Friday dinnertime.

A National League statement read: "Firstly, the National League sends sincere condolences of all Member Clubs on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II to His Majesty King Charles III and the further Royal Family.

"Further to this morning’s statement by Debbie Hewitt, chair of The Football Association, all National League System, FA Trophy, and grassroots fixtures scheduled for this weekend will not take place as a mark of respect. The Queen was the FA’s patron, and Prince William is its President.

"At this moment National League fixtures will go ahead as planned from Monday 12 September onwards although we understand no sporting event of any kind will be permitted on the day of The Queen’s funeral.

"The decision to postpone this weekend’s fixtures is taken in line with guidance from the FA in consultation with the Department for Culture, Media and Sport. The League fully supports this stance."
