SEVEN out of eight won't be too bad for Luke Gardner!
The business end of the Shropshire League season is fast approaching and Division One frontrunners Chirk have eight games left to play in their quest for promotion.
Plenty of twists and turns are likely to be in store between now and September, though, with Chirk skipper Gardner saying he wants a minimum of seven wins from the remaining eight matches.
"I think it will come down to the very last game," he added
Chasing last time out did the trick again as Chirk maintained their hold on top spot.
They defeated Chelmarsh by two wickets, with Shaun Walker and Olly Gough leading the side to victory.
"A revolution of chasing batsmen at Chirk!" said Gardner, whose side hosts Worfield Seconds tomorrow.
"Worfield is going to be a very different challenge," added Gardner, who will be without Andrew Swarbrick and Nick Flack tomorrow.
A big eight games remain for Northop Hall in their efforts to beat the drop from Division One of the Liverpool Competition.
Last weekend's win against Caldy was a key one as it dragged Hall out of the bottom-two.
Another vital encounter comes tomorrow as Northop Hall head to basement side Fleetwood Hesketh.
County champions Warwickshire head to Chester Boughton Hall on Sunday for an ECB Showcase 50-over clash with Cheshire.
Sunday’s match, which starts at 11am, is one of 20 specially staged games across the country.
A fun-filled day will include a demonstration of ‘Dynamo Cricket’ by Hall’s junior members while admission prices are £10 for adults, £5 per car with u18s allowed in for free.
You can buy tickets by texting/calling 07900 975826 or just pay on the gate.
There will be limited fixed seating so spectators are advised to bring their own chairs.
There are food outlets at the ground including a barbecue, licensed bars in the marquee, upstairs in the clubhouse and a bottle bar around the perimeter of the ground.
Boughton Hall, well beaten in their Cheshire Premier League top of the table tussle at Didsbury last time out, head to defending champions Nantwich tomorrow.
