Phil Parkinson has been full of praise about the impact prolific striker Ollie Palmer has made since joining the club in January.

The 30-year-old has bagged 16 goals since joining Wrexham for a club record fee of £300,000 from AFC Wimbledon during the January transfer window.

He has formed a frightening partnership up top with Paul Mullin, with the pair’s goals being crucial in the Reds upturn in form this year.

They have taken 49 points out of a possible 69 in 2022, bettered only by Stockport County and Solihull Moors.

Palmer’s goals have been a big part of that, especially in big games.

He scored the winner against Grimsby on his debut, scored two goals at Chesterfield, the equaliser against Solihull Moors at home and got a brace against Stockport.

Reds boss Parkinson has clearly been impressed by his arrival.

“Very, very good character,” he said.

“The lads love him; he’s got a great personality but he’s a very good player.

“We felt the first window we did okay but leading up to Christmas we weren’t where we needed to be, and we set out to bring in an Ollie Palmer type player and I was delighted when we got him.

“He’s been great, he’s embraced everything and galvanised the group.

“Obviously, we had Jake Hyde who had an unfortunate hamstring injury, so we missed him, so we needed another focal point at the top of the pitch.”
