BEN TOZER is heading into “a game of magnitude” still believing that Wrexham can will the National League title.

The second placed Reds are three points behind leaders Stockport County who visit The Racecourse in Sunday’s top of the table clash.

Phil Parkinson’s side only have two matches remaining while the Hatters have a game in hand and are favourites to clinch automatic promotion.

If they miss out on top spot, Wrexham’s aim is to finish second or third so they avoid a play-off eliminator tie and will be at home in the semi-finals.

But centre-back Tozer is still targeting the title while it is still mathematically possible.

“We have gone into every game the last couple of months that everything is must-win,” said Tozer.

“We want to win every game.

“That is the way I will certainly be approaching it - win the game and see what happens.

“I am not bothered about second, third, fourth or whatever.

“I am fully focussed on winning on Sunday and trying to win the league.

“That is exactly where I am but whatever happens, happens.”

Wrexham beat Southend 1-0 on Saturday to make up ground on Stockport, who suffered a 2-1 home defeat against Boreham Wood.

The Hatters bounced back by beating Chesterfield 1-0 two days later as the Reds were held to a 1-1 draw by the Wood, but Tozer refuses to dwell on that disappointment and is fully focussed on the job in hand.

“What has gone has gone,” said Tozer.

“Monday’s game, there was disappointment in the changing room straight away.

“But as soon as we left the changing room and on the bus, full focus was to Sunday.

“That’s how you should be, there is no point dwelling on anything.

“Over the last two games we have gained a point on them, that is the way we have to look at it.

“Sunday is a game of magnitude.”

It might be a huge game in the battle for automatic promotion but Tozer, who helped Wrexham beat Stockport 2-0 in the FA Trophy semi-final last month, is treating it just like any other match.

“It is something to really look forward to, it is a massive game,” said Tozer.

“The fans will be here and it will be a bit like the last time we played them but with a little bit more on it.

“We are in good form.

“We are probably one of the most in-form teams in the league without looking, that is how it feels.

“In my eyes it is another game. Every game is massive, you can’t treat one game bigger than the other because that is when you will slip-up.”

Tozer says Wrexham will give their all to secure victory ahead of a final day trip to Dagenham and Redbridge next weekend.

“It is exciting,” added Tozer. “It is very exciting to be a part of.

“It is something we would have snapped your hand off four or five months ago, to be in this situation; to be playing a game of this magnitude and to be playing Stockport in this situation.

“We will just go out there and just give it everything we have, as we have been, and keep going to the 95th minute.”
