BRYCE HOSANNAH feared his season was over after picking up a knee injury in Wrexham’s run to the FA Trophy final.

The wing-back limped off in the 2-1 win at Notts County in the quarter-finals and was absent for the next 10 games as Phil Parkinson’s side continued the promotion challenge and reached the Wembley showpiece.

A second half substitute in Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Southend, Hosannah was back in the starting line-up as the Reds drew 1-1 at Boreham Wood 48 hours later and he was delighted to return to action after fearing the worst.

“It was quite a bad knee injury so I wasn’t sure if I would play again this season,” said Hosannah.

“Credit to the medical staff because they have been really good with me, and it is good to be back for the business end of the season.”

Hosannah marked his return to the side with an assist as they 23-year-old picked out top scorer Paul Mullin who fired home his 29th goal of the season to put Wrexham ahead early in the second half.

However, 10-man Boreham Wood scored a last-gasp equaliser from the penalty spot and that took the shine off Hosannah setting up a goal on his comeback.

“It was nice to have an assist but it would have been nicer if we had won,” said Hosannah.

“I don’t really mind my goal contributions as long as we win.”

Wrexham had chances to kill the game off after taking the lead and Hosannah knows those missed opportunities proved costly with the second placed Reds losing ground on title rivals Stockport who won 1-0 at Chesterfield and remain top.

“It was disappointing not to win because we created more than enough chances,” said Hosannah.

“Everyone was disappointed in the dressing room but that game is done now.

“We have got to pick ourselves up and not dwell on it, and just go again.”
