BEN TOZER is happy for Wrexham to do the chasing and doesn't mind not being top of the National League with a third of the season to go.

The in-form Reds, not in action at the weekend, sit ... in the table, .... points behind leaders Stockport County with a game in hand.

Wrexham have 14 matches left and Tozer, who helped Cheltenham clinch the League Two title last season, insists there is time for Phil Parkinson's side to make a charge for automatic promotion.

"At this stage of the season, I mean it when I say I would rather be hunting the team at the top than being hunted down," said the centre-back.

"Last season we went top about end of February/beginning of March and then it was a bit of a boxing match between us and the other teams.

"You are going into games when you are top of the league almost with something to lose already; hopefully that is the case for them.

"We are hunting them down and momentum is going to play a massive part so as soon as we do get that top spot, it will be about kicking on, taking no prisoners and just being ruthless."

Meanwhile, Tozer is one of three Wrexham players called up to the England C squad to take on Wales C at Caernarfon on Wednesday April 30.

Tozer, fellow-centre-back Aaron Hayden and leading scorer Paul Mullin will all represent the English non-league team, made up of players from the National League system.

It is the first time that all three, who arrived at The Racecourse last summer from Football League clubs, have been named in Paul Fairclough’s squad.

The third International Challenge match sees the English team represented by an open-age squad for the first time since 2008.

Squad: Scott Loach (Chesterfield), Ryan Boot (Solihull), Richard Brindley (Notts County), Ash Palmer (Stockport), Aaron Hayden (Wrexham), Ben Tozer (Wrexham), Nathan Ralph (Southend), Ryan Croasdale (Stockport), Will Collar (Stockport), Matt Robinson (Dagenham), Joe Sbarra (Solihull), Callum Roberts (Notts County), Michael Cheek (Bromley), Paul Mullin (Wrexham), Mason Clark (Barnet), Liam Mandeville (Chesterfield).
