PHIL PARKINSON is hoping in-form Jordan Davies is back in action sooner rather than later and fellow midfielder Tom O’Connor makes a speedy recovery from injury.

Davies gave Wrexham an early lead with his 14th goal of the season in Tuesday’s clash against King’s Lynn at The Racecourse.

But shortly after leading scorer Paul Mullin doubled the Reds’ advantage in the 31st minute, the 23-year-old was forced off with a calf problem.

Wrexham triumphed 2-0 to move up to third place and close the gap on National League leaders Stockport County to six points, and Parkinson is keeping his fingers crossed that there is positive news so that key-man Davies can continue playing his part in the promotion push.

“His calf has tightened up unfortunately so that is a blow for us,” said Parkinson.

“He said he said he felt it in the warm-up, maybe he should have flagged it up before but he has got his goal and hopefully it is not too serious.

“We will get him assessed and hopefully he will be back sooner rather than later.”

January transfer window signing O’Connor was missing for the second successive game as Wrexham beat the lowly Linnets to register a fifth win in a row in all competitions.

O’Connor has been troubled with a hamstring problem since last Tuesday’s 2-0 success at Chesterfield but Parkinson says it is not a long-term injury.

“Tom wasn’t close,” said Parkinson.

“It is a bit of a strange one. He played Tuesday, didn’t feel too bad Wednesday, trained Thursday and trained Friday but then felt it after the team shape and the set-plays.

“We sent him for a scan as a precaution but the injury came back worse than we feared.

“It s not like it is going to be weeks and weeks but it is not a little niggle which would have given him a chance on Tuesday.”
