IT'S transfer deadline day and Wrexham will have one more player added to the squad by midnight if assistant manager Steve Parkin has his way.

The Reds have completed two new signings so far this month with the club breaking its transfer record to bring in striker Ollie Palmer from AFC Wimbledon and left-back Callum McFadzean linking up with his former manager Phil Parkinson after leaving Crewe Alexandra.

With Wrexham unable to sign any more players, including loans, when the January transfer window closes tonight, Parkin would like to have one more fresh face through the door at The Racecourse to give the promotion challenge a boost.

Parkin wouldn't specify the position Wrexham want to bolster but he wants to make sure there is enough strength in depth in the squad for the remaining games.

"Phil is liaising with (advisor) Shaun Harvey and the powers that be for us to be as strong as we possibly can going into the run-in because we all know the rules for us. We can't bring loans in," said Parkin.

"The important thing for us is that we have cover in absolutely every position knowing full-well that after Monday, we can't strengthen again.

"I think we would just like to bring one more in at the moment - one more player would be good."
