WREXHAM conceded a stoppage time equaliser as the Reds were held to a 1-1 draw by Maidenhead United at The Racecourse.

Phil Parkinson's side played the majority of the game with 10 men after leading scorer Paul Mullin was given his marching orders after just four minutes.

However, Wrexham responded well to the set-back and took the lead through Aaron Hayden but the Magpies grabbed a last-gasp leveller.

It was no surprise to see Parkinson name an unchanged side, keeping faith with the players that started the midweek 1-0 win over Grimsby.

With new signing Callum McFadzean still carrying a knock, the Reds' boss also selected the same substitutes bench.

But the start of the contest was surrounded in controversy as Mullin was shown a straight red card by referee David Richardson after just four minutes.

Mullin was dismissed following a high challenge on Josh Smile who he caught in the chest and Richardson decided to send off the Reds' leading scorer after consulting an assistant.

Despite being down to 10 men, Wrexham took the game to Maidenhead and Reece Hall-Johnson's low cross was just beyond Ollie Palmer.

However, the Reds took an 18th minute lead.

Ben Tozer launched his long throw into the danger-zone and Hayden headed past goalkeeper Daniel Gyollai.

It was 2-0 when Jordan Davies' clever pass played in Max Cleworth who pulled the ball back from the by-line and Hall-Johnson failed to hit the target from close range.

Davies saw his drive deflect wide for a corner while a couple of good blocks in the area denied Maidenhead and kept Wrexham's lead in tact at the break.

The Magpies had their best chance of the game when the second half kicked off but Rob Lainton pulled off a superb save to deny Josh Kelly after Smile's corner reached the striker.

Back came Wrexham with Davies running at goal before feeding Hall-Johnson whose cross was headed over by Palmer.

Davies went even closer as he connected with Palmer's cross but the ball fell inches wide.

It looked like ending in victory but Maidenhead levelled in added time.

A cross came in from the right and substitute Shawn McCoulsky headed past Lainton.
