HOPEFULLY it will be third time lucky for Chirk’s big North East Wales FA Cup clash to go ahead this weekend, writes SHAUN DAVIES.

Twice postponed already, Chirk AAA host Chirk Town tomorrow in a quarter-final cracker at Holyhead Road.

Both sides will go into the crunch clash in excellent form.

Andy Pryde’s Chirk AAA boosted their Ardal North East League title hopes last Saturday with their 6-1 success against Four Crosses.

At the same time, North East Wales League Premier Division leaders Chirk Town made it 14 league wins for the campaign with a 6-3 victory at Castell Alun Colts.

“The lads are relishing the chance of playing Chirk AAA as many of them are returning as former players,” said Chirk Town boss Chris Hughes.

“The game has drummed up a lot of interest in and around the town so hopefully we will see a big crowd.”

Looking at the make-up of the visitors’ squad for tomorrow, Hughes added: “Early team news is that Jamie and Nicky Williams both miss out through injury.

“Plus it’s a couple of weeks early for Aaron Davies, who’s been out since the start of December.

“Anthony Jones and Lewis Penrose both came off the bench last week and are in contention.”
