IT'S a case of so far, so good as far as Phil Parkinson is concerned with Wrexham's new system.
The Reds boss has favoured a 3-5-3 formation this season but switched to a 4-2-3-1 shape for the first time in last Tuesday's FA Cup fourth qualifying round replay against Marine.
Wrexham won 2-0 and with Parkinson sticking with the same system, he saw his side mark their return to National League action for the first time in nearly three weeks by beating Barnet 3-0 at The Hive on Saturday.
First half goals from leading scorer Paul Mullin and Aaron Hayden put Wrexham in control and Shaun Brisley got in on the act after the break to seal victory, leaving Parkinson happy with the early signs following the formation change.
"It is early days, we have changed it around but when we went to Aldershot with three at the back, we were 2-0 up and should have been five-up at half-time as well," said Parkinson.
"Shape is important and getting the players to feel comfortable in their positions.
"The early signs, we have got five goals playing that way in two games so we are obviously pleased."
