A WOEFUL second half performance finally caught up with Wrexham who failed to learn their lessons from previous games.

The Reds suffered their second defeat of the National League season after going down 2-1 against fellow promotion favourites Stockport County at Edgeley Park.

For the third Saturday in a row, Wrexham had the better of the first half and deserved to be ahead at the break thanks to Paul Mullin's strike inside the opening 50 seconds.

But Wrexham once again let their opponents back into a game that they should have made safe when well on top in the first half.

Stockport were given a huge lift after scoring an equaliser just three minutes after the turnaround and with Wrexham not posing a threat at the other end, the home side grabbed a late winner as they twice capitalised on poor defending.

Here's how the players rated:

ROB LAINTON: Had the assist for Mullin’s goal and poor defending left him exposed for the two goals. 6

AARON HAYDEN: Wasteful in possession at times and the second goal could have been avoided. 5

BEN TOZER: Wrexham were found wanting for the two goals they conceded. 5

HARRY LENNON: The best of the back three but it was a poor second half for Reds. 5

TYLER FRENCH: Wing-backs have been a big attacking threat this season but was more on the defensive. 5

LUKE YOUNG: A difficult afternoon for the midfield. 5

JAMES JONES: Wrexham lacked creativity in the second half and Stockport's dominance paid off for them. 5

JAMIE RECKORD: Unable to support attacks like he has done as County restricted him. 5

LIAM MCALINDEN: Set-up one Mullin chance first half and close to a goal but was bypassed second half. 6

PAUL MULLIN: Brilliant finish for his goal and denied by goalkeeper with two other chances. 7

JORDAN PONTICELLI: Worked hard chasing long balls in a better first half. 5
