HOLLYWOOD stars Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds failed to show up at The Racecourse and their club had to settle for a share of the spoils against Notts County.

Hopes were high that the actors would make their long-awaited appearance for the Reds' first home game of the National League season but they weren't present as Phil Parkinson's side drew 1-1 with the Magpies to maintain their unbeaten start.

Yet to visit north Wales since completing their takeover of the club in February, McElhenney and Reynolds' financial backing has further increased expectation levels at Wrexham who were installed as title favourites heading into a 14th campaign in non-league.

Supporters snapped up season tickets in huge numbers and a bumper crowd saw Phil Parkinson's side put in a decent performance.

Wrexham dominated the first half and had opportunities to score but the Magpies took the lead against the run of play just before the interval.

However, striker Paul Mullin equalised for the Reds early in the second period and the home side continued to push for a winner but it never came.

That means Wrexham have taken five points from the opening three games and will aim for another victory at Southend United this weekend.

Parkinson made one change from the side that started when Wrexham won 2-0 against Eastleigh 48 hours earlier.

Max Cleworth came into the defence in place of Harry Lennon, while there was also a place on the substitutes bench for midfielder Liam McAlinden who was absent at The Silverlake Stadium through illness.

Less than 90 seconds had gone when Wrexham created the first chance of the game as Aaron Hayden's headed clearance reached Mullin who brought a save out of keeper Sam Slocombe.

Mullin also fired wide after being fed by James Jones as the Reds continued their quick-fire start while County's first sight of goal came in the 10th minute but Dion Kelly-Evans cleared the bar from Kyle Wootton's pull-back.

Wrexham continued to put the pressure on County and Jordan Davies' drive found the side-netting while Luke Young failed to hit the target with another opportunity and Mullin was denied by Slocombe.

The goal that the Reds had been threatening arrived in the 29th minute, although it was ruled out for offside.

Tyler French's cross was headed down by Jake Hyde and James Jones slammed his shot past Slocombe but the linesman's flag was promptly raised because Hyde was in an offside position.

Jones saw another effort deflected wide for a corner but County took the lead against the run of play one minute before the interval.

Captain Kyle Cameron sent in a cross and Wootton steered his header beyond Rob Lainton.

The Reds went straight on the attack when the second half kicked off and Davies' curling shot fell narrowly wide while Jones got on the end of Mullin's cross but his volley was deflected behind.

But Wrexham were deservedly back on level terms on 53 minutes.

Jones sent in a cross from the right and Mullin headed past Slocombe.

Eager to build on the goal, Wrexham continued to press and Jones brought a save out of Slocombe who also denied Mullin after the striker raced onto Cleworth's pass.

Parkinson made his first change in the 70th minute as Dior Angus replaced Hyde and McAlinden soon came on for Jones.

Wrexham kept pushing for a winner and Ben Tozer's cross was volleyed over the bar by Mullin and Cleworth's header landed just wide but the Reds had to settle for a point.
