WREXHAM registered a 3-0 victory against Yeovil Town to maintain their play-off challenge - and the Reds could have won by a much bigger margin.

All three goals came in the first half but the Glovers could have had no complaints if they had been further behind at the break as they just couldn't live with Wrexham.

Dean Keates' side were good value for their lead and although not as dominant in the second half, still had a couple of chances to extend their advantage.

Victory extended the unbeaten run to six games and keeps Wrexham sixth in the National League with four games to go.

Keates made four changes from the side that started Monday's 2-2 draw at Maidenhead.

Two were in the wing-back positions as Reece Hall-Johnson and Cameron Green came into the side in place of Tyler French and Jamie Reckord.

Jay Harris was preferred to Paul Rutherford in midfield and Dior Angus replaced Chris Sang in attack.

Wrexham made a bright start and Green delivered a dangerous cross to the back post where Hall-Johnson volleyed wide while Gold Omotayo failed to take another opportunity.

But Wrexham took a ninth minute lead.

Luke Young sent in a corner and Shaun Pearson rose highest to direct his header past Adam Smith.

Jordan Davies fired wide after Smith dropped a cross and after Rob Lainton turned away Tom Knowles free-kick, Wrexham made it 2-0 on 20 minutes.

A corner was recycled and Davies pulled the ball back for Young whose shot found the back of the net despite the best efforts of a defender.

A third goal almost arrived when Omotayo was denied by Smith and Young failed to hit the target with his follow-up.

Lainton denied former Wrexham loan striker Joe Quigley but the Reds made it 3-0 on the half-hour mark as Davies found the back of the net with a brilliant 20-yard free-kick.

The chances kept coming and Davies could not keep his effort down from a good position while Rutherford replaced the injured Harris in the 40th minute.

Angus went close and Theo Vassell saw a goalbound header cleared before the break but Yeovil had the first sight of goal in the second half with Josh Neufville failing to test Lainton.

Wrexham were back on the offensive and Omotayo was denied by Smith after being put through on goal with Green's follow-up falling inches wide.

Pearson wasn't far away from scoring his second goal of the game but a header from Green's corner was brilliantly tipped over the bar by Smith.

The Reds didn't score in the second half but it was a case of job done after blitzing Yeovil in the opening 45 minutes.
