DEAN KEATES has not ruled out signing a striker before tomorrow's showdown with play-off rivals Stockport County at The Racecourse.

Keates is seeking reinforcements in attack as Dior Angus is the only frontman available for the visit of the Hatters with top scorer Kwame Thomas (Achilles') facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines and Jordan Ponticelli (hamstring) not yet ready to return.

Only able to bring in free agents due to Wrexham being a Welsh club, Keates is running the rule over two strikers in training and is yet to make a decision.

"We will have had two full training days coming into the weekend and I will make a decision on the back end of that," said Keates.

"There is a good chance (of having someone in for the game), we will see how it goes.

"It is also being mindful that the players coming in are not up to match speed and is it too much to ask of them to go straight into the starting XI?

"These are the questions that I need to be asking, I have to balance it out and make the right decisions for the football club.

"We are going into the last quarter of the season and it has to be the right one to go into the environment of the changing room."

Keates is not limited to signing either of the two trialists with other strikers on the radar.

"There are one or two other options out there, names that have been thrown," said Keates.

"I have had numerous names thrown but some of them are dead ends because of the situation we are in; I have been offered loans that we can't do.

"One or two we have flagged up are interesting, then we have to see when their last game was, contract situation etc, so there is a lot of hard work going on in the background.

"Can things be done by this weekend? Let's just see."
