LEX owner Viv Reeves says he’s delighted to help Wrexham out by sealing a deal for Dean Keates’ promotion-chasing Reds to train at Stansty.

“I had a call out of the blue from Dean Keates and met up with him and the groundsman, Paul Challoner,” said Reeves, who has more than a 40 year association with the Lex XI football club.

“We have a great relationship with the club and are happy to help out in any way in what promises to be an exciting chapter in the club’s history.”

Wrexham had hoped the Nine Acre site on Chester Road would solve their training ground problems but that move hasn’t worked out.

Now the club will return to Stansty where Arfon Griffiths’ super Seventies side regularly used to train on their way to the Division Three Championship.

Keates’ Reds are also chasing promotion this season and he said: “We have been using Druids but we want to get back on grass and this gives us an extra option until the end of the season.”
