FIACRE KELLEHER doesn't care how they do it but the centre-back just wants to make sure Wrexham see the job through and secure a play-off spot.

The Reds go into tonight's game against lowly Barnet at The Hive on the back of a deserved goalless draw at in-form Sutton United, who would have gone top of the National League with victory.

Beaten once in the last 10 games, Wrexham sit fifth in the standings and on course to clinch a top-seven finish but Kelleher says there can be no let-up in the push for promotion.

"I think the main thing is not to get too carried away with where you are in the league," said Kelleher.

"It is so tight.

"You have got to focus on being how consistent you can be as a team each game and just trying to claw out results when maybe you are not at your best.

"Things are so tight at the moment, you just have to be consistent to get as many points as you can and we are doing that at the moment which is good so long may that continue."

Wrexham narrowly avoided relegation last season when the National League table was finalised using a Points Per Game method when the campaign was cut short because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Huge strides have been taken this term with Dean Keates' men among the leading pack and summer signing Kelleher just wants to ensure the Reds are in the promotion mix come the end of May.

"If we do it nitty gritty or if we do it with a bit of style, I don't really care to be honest," said Kelleher.

"By whatever means I suppose. As long as we are in there, that is the main thing.

"At the start of the season we had our targets set and making sure we are in the play-offs is the main one.

"Coming from where the team was last year, I think it is a massive improvement and with the takeover as well, I think this club can go to the next level again so hopefully it comes this season."

Wrexham were good value for their point against Sutton.

There were few chances at either end and Kelleher, who helped Wrexham thrash the U's 4-0 at The Racecourse in November's reverse fixture, played his part as the Reds kept another clean sheet.

"It could have been a really good game but I think it was more both teams didn't want to lose the game rather than both trying to win," said Kelleher.

"We had two or three chances and they had one or two so it really was quite an even game and I don't think either team deserved to win.

"But we can't complain, it is a good point for us and it keeps us going.

"It is another clean sheet. We are doing quite well and not conceding many goals, and that is something that is really helping the team.

"We have taken four points off Sutton now and not conceded a goal against them so it shows how far we have come that we are in and around it now.

"It is a good point on the road and we have to go again at Barnet."

Barnet, who drew 0-0 at The Racecourse in October, are 11 points adrift of safety and Kelleher is targeting victory to remain on course for the play-offs ahead of two successive home games.

"If we want to do anything, we know in our heads which games we have to get three points in," said Kelleher.

"If we can back the draw at Sutton up with three points at Barnet, that will be a good week for us.

"Since our last game against Barnet we are a different team. We will go there and give it everything.

"Then we go back to The Racecourse so we can get a bit of momentum if we can win on Tuesday."

Kelleher added: "We are getting a bit closer to the business end of the season now but we are in a good run of form. We are not losing games.

"We looked comfortable against a Sutton team who are up there so all in all I think we are looking well.

"Everybody is fighting for places which is a good thing so I just hope this continues.

"We have got a great chance on Tuesday to make this a good week for us."
