ANDY MORRISON believes Connah's Quay Nomads will be going toe-to-toe with a wounded animal in Cardiff Met.

The reigning champions head to the capital tomorrow afternoon (Saturday) to do battle with Christian Edwards' Archers, who have picked up just five from a possible 21 this term.

Met started the season with a 3-2 victory at Aberystwyth, but since then they've managed just two draws, scoring only once - at rock-bottom Cefn Druids - in the process.

Nomads' boss Morrison won't be taking the hosts lightly, however, regardless of their current run of form, which includes three successive defeats.

"They are a wounded animal at the moment, so we know they are going to want to change their season around," said Morrison.

"Christian has a great group of players there and a big strong squad.

"We will go there, keep the momentum, keep the tempo, keep the intensity and keep asking questions."

In contrast to Cardiff Met, Nomads are top of the table following a run of five successive victories, the latest of which saw them come from a goal down to beat Caernarfon 3-1 in midweek.

The latest win came despite the absence of George Horan, Danny Holmes, Jamie Insall, Sameron Dool. Aeron Edwards and Brayden Shaw.

Morrison is hoping to have at least one body back for the trip to Cardiff, saying: "Anything that can go wrong for us at the moment seems to be going that way, but that's five wins on the spin and we were magnificent.

"Fingers crossed I might get one back.

"It's a big of a hard luck story. The results are not reflecting the amount of bad luck we've had since Tbilisi."

Dool, meanwhile, has won September’s Cymru Premier goal of the month competition.

The midfielder rescued a point for Nomads with his 94th minute long-range rocket against Bala on September 12.

Dool who missed the midweek victory over Caernarfon with a hamstring problem, said: “It was a tough game, we had a few chances that didn’t quite drop for us.

“I’ve got the ball and backed my ability - I’ve got it out of my feet, struck it and luckily it’s ended up in the top corner. I was buzzing.

“A few of the lads have been joking that it took a bobble, but I’ve watched it about 100 times and it looks clean to me!”

The New Saints are looking to make it six successive victories without conceding at Rhys Griffiths’ Penybont tomorrow.

Saints boss Scott Ruscoe said: “When you are on a roll where you don’t concede it leads you into the next game and no-one wants to be the one who makes the mistake or gives the ball away where they score. The longer that stays with us is fantastic.”

On Penybont, Ruscoe added: “Penybont are finding their feet. They were very good last season, but this season they’ve added some energy to their midfield and they’re looking very good at the moment.”
