DEAN KEATES will have some big calls to make when it comes to naming his retained list.

Football has been suspended indefinitely because of the coronavirus crisis and while a decision has not yet been made on how the National League campaign will be concluded, Wrexham boss Keates should be able to plan for a 13th season in the fifth tier.

Six players - captain Shaun Pearson, Rob Lainton, Luke Young, Devonte Redmond, Dan Jarvis and Jay Harris - are under contract at The Racecourse for 2020-21.

After battling to avoid relegation this term, Keates will be looking for the Reds to be challenging at the other end of the table next season and will have to decide which of the other 15 first team squad members should be offered new deals.

Christian Dibble, Dawid Szczepaniak, Jazzi Barnum-Bobb, Jake Lawlor, Doug Tharme, Mark Carrington, James Jennings, Paul Rutherford, Akil Wright, Luke Summerfield, Bobby Grant, Jason Oswell, JJ Hooper, Leighton McIntosh and Davis Keillor-Dunn are all out of contract this summer.

What will Keates decide and who will still be at Wrexham next season?

CHRISTIAN DIBBLE: Given his chance at the start of the season with first choice keeper Rob Lainton injured and started promisingly enough before errors crept into his game but will have benefited from a run in the side.

DAWID SZCZEPANIAK: Restricted to just one Scottish Challenge Cup appearance this term and has been on loan at Cefn Druids.

JAZZI BARNUM-BOBB: One of Bryan Hughes' summer signings, Barnum-Bobb started the first two league games following Keates' appointment but not been seen since apart from two cup appearances.

JAKE LAWLOR: Has not hit the same heights as 2018-19 when he formed a brilliant partnership with Shaun Pearson but has still been a regular starter and does the job at this level.

DOUG THARME: Had three Scottish Challenge Cup run-outs but was over-looked for league matches by both Hughes and Keates, having three unsuccessful loan spells.

MARK CARRINGTON: The longest serving player in the squad has once again been solid and done a job for the team wherever he is asked to play. A dependable, utility player to have in the ranks.

JAMES JENNINGS: Jennings has not played since he picked up a knee injury at the start of February and was missed in the left wing-back role before the season was suspended.

PAUL RUTHERFORD: Used a lot by both managers this season, whether starting or coming off the bench, and his commitment to the cause cannot be faulted.

AKIL WRIGHT: A mid-season injury following a good run in the side led to a spell on the sidelines and was back in the squad when the campaign was halted.

LUKE SUMMERFIELD: The experienced midfielder saw his season cut short by injury at the start of February but still played a lot of games in his second year at the club.

BOBBY GRANT: Was, and still is, leading scorer when he was allowed to join Accrington on loan in January. That speaks volumes about whether he has a future at The Racecourse.

JASON OSWELL: The striker's career just hasn't taken off in Wrexham colours but he was back in the reckoning when the pandemic saw matches suspended.

JJ HOOPER: Has shown what a good player he can be and has weighed in with goals but has been a regular absentee during what has been a difficult season for Wrexham.

LEIGHTON MCINTOSH: Made four cup appearances but none in the league since Keates' arrival and joined Blyth on loan as he wasn't part of the manager's plans.

DAVIS KEILLOR-DUNN: Cameo appearances off the bench were followed by some impressive performances when he started. Couldn't have done much more to earn a contract.
