RGC have released some interesting performance statistics after their Indigo Group Premiership campaign was cut short due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The Gogs’ enjoyed mixed success throughout their top-flight season, which was to be expected after losing a host of key squad members in addition to head coach Mark Jones and coach Phil John.

They were also without the services of newly appointed Matt Silva for a large part of the campaign, but there was still much to like about their level of play in periods.

Talented fly-half Billy McBryde led the way in three categories, with the player boasting most minutes played with 1,508 and the largest number of starts for the club (17).

He was also not only RGC’s top points scorer, but McBryde led all top-flight players by a comfortable margin to further enhance his overall influence on the squad.

Imposing forward Bryn Jones enjoyed a standout campaign in the trenches and emerged into a defensive lynchpin for the Gogs.

This reflected in Jones leading the way in tackles with 105 and most rucks hit on 305.

Skipper Tom Hughes managed to secure most carries during the season with 107, and pacey centre Harri Evans secured the accolade of most line breaks with 15.

Wales 7s international Afon Bagshaw and blistering winger Rhys Williams both finished the campaign on seven tries, which were the most by any RGC player in 2019/20.

The ambitious club now as a head start on planning ahead for next season, which will see plenty of first team players make a successful return from long-term injury in time for pre-season training.
