WREXHAM played out a goalless draw against fellow strugglers Eastleigh at a windswept Racecourse.

The game lacked clear cut chances, although Reds striker Jordan Ponticelli saw a second half goal ruled out for offside and Jake Lawlor saw a late header cleared off the line.

Both teams remain just above the relegation zone following the stalemate.

Dean Keates made one change from the side that lost 3-0 at Yeovil the previous weekend with the fit-again Mark Carrington replacing Tyler Garratt in the left wing-back position.

The blustery conditions made it difficult but Wrexham made an encouraging start and Davis Keillor-Dunn's 14th minute shot deflected wide for a corner which came to nothing.

The Reds were dominating and trying to combat the wind by getting the ball down but despite having all the possession, were unable to turn it into goalscoring opportunities.

Eastleigh had their first sight of goal on 38 minutes but Aden Baldwin headed well wide from a corner and Tyrone Barnett saw his shot deflected off target.

But Wrexham came even closer just before the break as Jordon Thompson flicked the ball on to Ponticelli whose first time effort only just cleared the bar.

Less than 60 seconds of the second half had gone when Eastleigh capitalised on a Kieran Kennedy mistake, Cavaghn Miley playing in Barnett who was denied by Reds' keeper Rob Lainton.

Lainton also saved Andrew Boyce's header while Luke Young failed to trouble Eastleigh keeper Max Stryjek with a long range drive at the other end.

Wrexham thought they'd taken the lead in the 62nd minute following their next attack as Ponticelli headed home from Keillor-Dunn's cross but the goal was ruled out for offside.

Neither side threatened a winner until Lawlor's injury time header was cleared off the line by midfielder Jack Payne.
