DEESIDE Under 15s claimed their first win of the season in their Division One clash against Trafford in the Greater Manchester Junior League.

The Flintshire club earned themselves all five points from the fixture thanks to a deserved 55-46 victory which has taken them up to third in the table after four matches.

Trafford started brightly, taking an early three goal lead in the first quarter. But an inspired Kellie Murray turned the tie around as the Deeside goal shooter scored seven without reply to help her team to a 15-10 lead going into the second quarter.

The Manchester side brought on a new goalkeeper to bring added strength to their side, and she helped Trafford to wrestle the scoreline back in their favour at half-time with Deeside trailing 25-24.

It all changed after the break, though, as a scintillating spell of netball saw Deeside score 21 goals to build a lead that they would not relinquish as they went into the final period 45-35 up.

Deeside’s Poppy Ellis was brought off and given a rest in the dying minutes as her side saw out the game to eventually win the fixture 55-46.

Deeside U15s are next in action on February 9 when they play Tameside.
