LUKE SUMMERFIELD scored twice and debutant Dan Jarvis also found the net as Wrexham registered a 3-0 victory over Woking.

Back in action following a two-week break, Wrexham produced a much better display as they bounced back from the 2-1 defeat to Aldershot by picking up a deserved win.

Manager Dean Keates completed two new signings in the run-up to the game with midfielders Jarvis and Davis Keillor-Dunn penning permanent contracts at The Racecourse.

Jarvis was handed a starting place against Woking - Keillor-Dunn settled for a place on the substitutes bench - as Keates made four changes from the side that started the 2-1 defeat at home to fellow strugglers Aldershot two weeks earlier.

Skipper Shaun Pearson, Summerfield and Paul Rutherford also came into the side with Tyler Reid, Devonte Redmond, Bobby Grant and Omari Patrick the players who missed out.

Both teams cancelled each other out in the opening exchanges with Wrexham claiming their should have had a penalty as a Jarvis shot appeared to have been handled in the area by Ben Gerring.

There hadn't been any chances at either end but Wrexham took a 15th minute lead in spectacular fashion as Summerfield's stunning shot from 25 yards found the top corner of the net.

Jarvis then laid off to JJ Hooper who brought a fine save out of Woking keeper Craig Ross and Kieran Kennedy's effort was blocked for another corner as Wrexham continued to press.

Jamar Loza failed to hit the target with Woking's first opportunity of the game but Wrexham should have taken a 2-0 lead when Jarvis won possession and played in Hooper who was denied by Ross.

From the resulting corner, James Jennings' effort was cleared off the line by Loza.

Wrexham were indebted to Rob Lainton for maintaining their lead at the break with the goalkeeper making a brilliant reflex save to prevent Jake Hyde's header from Dave Tarpey's free-kick from crossing the line.

Just three minutes into the second half and Wrexham took a 2-0 lead following a decent move that started in their own half.

Summerfield's diagonal pass put Jarvis away, he ran at goal and fed Luke Young who was thwarted by Ross but Jarvis rifled the loose ball home.

Lainton made a comfortable save from Ross but Wrexham went even closer as Moussa Diarra failed to cut out Mark Carrington's through-ball but the Cards keeper pulled off a smart save.

Wrexham were dealt a blow when the impressive Jarvis picked up an injury and was forced off in the 63rd minute, with Keillor-Dunn coming on for his debut.

Woking were left with 10 men in the 69th minute when Loza was shown a second yellow card for simulation and given his marching orders, before Wrexham created a number of good chances.

A quickly taken Hooper free-kick put Keillor-Dunn away but his shot was blocked by Ross, Paul Rutherford saw a drive cleared off the line by Gerring and from the resulting corner, Kennedy brought another save out of Ross.

But Wrexham made it 3-0 in the 80th minute after Young's shot was handled by Jack Cook.

Summerfield was entrusted with the penalty and he found the back of the net.

The Reds were hungry for more goals and Summerfield's free-kick deflected narrowly wide while the midfielder also found the side-netting, but the home side had done enough.
