NICK JONES believes Corwen face a make or break six-game period in their quest for survival.

Corwen have half-a-dozen fixtures in the space of 29 days, five of which are at home against Llanrhaeadr, Llanfair, Llandudno, Penrhyncoch and Guilsfield.

A trip to rivals Ruthin Town comes after tomorrow’s clash with Llanrhaeadr, which will now take place at Bala’s Maes Tegid with the War Memorial Ground struggling as a result of the wintry weather.

And Corwen assistant boss Jones, who was encouraged by his side’s performance for large parts of last week’s 4-1 loss to leaders Prestatyn, is ready for a crucial run of fixtures, saying: “The next six games will make or break our season.

“We’ve got games against teams that we should have picked up points against in the first part of the season and now we need to take some off them this time around.

“If we don’t then we will be in a real struggle.”

Llanrhaeadr have been one of the surprise packages in tier two this term, climbing into fourth spot on the back of nine wins from 15 outings.

“It’s a game we think we have a good chance of winning,” said Jones, who pondered whether the fixture switch to Bala’s 3G surface would help his team, continuing: “We played a friendly on it against Llanuwchllyn and performed really well. But it doesn’t always suit us, so we will see.”

Corwen suffered a 1-0 defeat at Llanrhaeadr earlier in the season and Jones is looking to exact revenge.

He added: “It was an even game and they weren’t any better than us. We know what they’re about and we will have a different team to the one that played at their place.

“We are looking really, really strong going forward and we just need to cut out conceding silly goals.

“The workrate and desire is definitely there, it just needs to be done in a controlled manner more often than it is.”

Corwen are boosted by the return of Owen Cordiner, Tom Davies, Matty Williams, Eilir Edwards and Tom Mann.
