FLINT TOWN UNITED are refreshed and rejuvenated as they continue their title push at home to Llangefni Town.

The Silkmen end their 10-day break by welcoming the newly-promoted outfit to Cae-y-Castell tomorrow afternoon, Niall McGuinness’ men chasing an important three points.

With Flint missing out last weekend due to the 17-team second-tier, the Silkmen slipped to third in the table, five points behind leaders Prestatyn, who McGuinness watched beat Buckley 2-1.

But the break has also helped Flint nurse Alex Titchiner, Tony Davies and Kyle Smyth back to full fitness, while attacker Callum Bratley has finally received international clearance.

Corey Smart also got 90 minutes for Flint’s Development League team, scoring twice in a 6-3 success against Rhyl, so the Silkmen are in good shape.

McGuinness said: “The break did come at the right time with the likes of Alex, Tony and Kyle all now fully fit and there is real competition for a place in the squad this weekend.

“Results elsewhere probably could have gone a bit better with two missed penalties in the final minutes of games, but there was nothing we could do about that.”

Asked about the challenge of Llangefni, who have won one and drawn three of their seven matches this term, McGuinness continued: “I’ve got information on how they play and looking at their results they have been difficult to beat.”

With Flint tipped to challenge the likes of Prestatyn for the title and Llangefni in the bottom four, this is realistically a game McGuinness’ men need to win.

“It is important we get three points,” said the Flint boss. “We are expected to win, they are a team that has come up from the league below and we are a team expected to do well. But we know it will be a really tough test and we need to produce a good performance.”

Flint have won four and drawn one of their six games this season, a start McGuinness is keen to build on, adding: “The only disappointment in the first six games is losing the first one to Rhyl. But then we won at Colwyn Bay and picked up a good point at Bangor, so we’ve made up for that.

“It’s been a good start, but we now want to add to that by going on a winning run.”

Llangefni manager Chris Roberts, meanwhile, is ready for the challenge of Flint after seeing his side push Bangor City all the way.

A goal from Francesco Serafino was all that separated Llangefni and the Citizens, and Roberts is relishing the trip to Flintshire, saying: “It’s another tough game, but it’s one we look forward to.”

Leaders Prestatyn head to rock-bottom Porthmadog and second placed Rhyl host Penrhyncoch.
